Artist Selected - Unite Two Design
The City of Auburn Public Art Commission selected the proposal from Artist Team, Unite Two Design. The Artwork is anticipated to be installed in Spring 2024.
Aritist Concept Statement:
The proposed three-dimensional sculpture is an interpretive piece, a response to Auburn’s rich history of innovators, inventors, industrialists, theologians, builders, agriculturalists, entrepreneurs and free-thinkers.
The human hand is a very strong symbolic form. Human hands are often used to denote power, creation, hope and a sense of yearning. The two hand forms were intentionally depicted in an abstract organic geometry to promote visual interpretation. Strong but also yielding, the two hands gesture together and also individually about a central shape that can be interpreted as the idea, inspiration, creation or source of energy.

Growing Up | Artist : Michael Young
Concept Statement:
This piece represents growth and the connection of different parts of community coming together to reach new heights. Each leaf shaped window frames a different view of the surrounding environment . The brushed stainless is bold and reflective alive with movement in any light. At the same time aesthetically contemplative. I wanted to propose a work that was a scale to fit the setting.
